Transportation for Lakeland’s Future
February’s Listen Lakeland seeks to answer the mystery of who really plans the Transportation System we each drive on, bike on, walk on or ride on each day in the Lakeland community. To help all of us know what is being planned for our transportation system, both now and in the future, two of the professionals who guide that work in our community every day shared their organizations visions. Chandra Frederick, Polk County Assistant County Manager in charge of Planning and Development also directs the Polk Transportation Planning Organization also known as the Polk TPO and Chuck Barmby with the City of Lakeland who is the Business Development and Transportation Manager for the City shared the recently adopted Momentum 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan. They shared insights on changes to expect in how we will travel and move goods in the Lakeland Community with our Board member and long-time transportation planner, Pat Steed.
